I was born of the earth,
the hearth and home
the seeds surrounding me
the dreams feeding me
i was faithful
for oooohhhh so long.
i never turned from my mother's gaze
the laze of eyelids in the summer sun
in the blistering heat
caught beneath the grasp of a dresser
held beneath the weight of drawers
i was born from a river
a rushing, gushing, bubbling, babbling river
full of fish and pregnant with the promise of life
my hair adorned and my heart open wide
sucking in all the oxygen i could find
i was born from the flames of my home
arose to the eyes of many
glowing and singed, face blackened and delicate
my hands outstretched
i was born on the back of a lover
a lover of wings and things greater
words repeated over and over,
images the same again and again
i'm only a wild thing
a creature from beyond
understanding and grave
laughter always bubbling below
a soul bursting
bursting to get to you
