She remembers the poor filmmaker man
Who imagined her pushing her face against
walls and falling off of roofs
with such love and tenderness
He threw her off her own roof.
Beneath that rich blue hat of yours
lies not only eyebrows made of rope
or lines of grimacing waves of salt
but also the eyes of permanent love
and with anguish beheld
I bury my heart
beneath the broken-back waves
crashing about.
And beneath the beard which you cherish so
is the cheek of a boy who is hiding a note
wistful and turning, a kiss from a mare
a long-legged girl with celestial hair
and no wings on her shoulders, but feathers are glued
you marvel at lights that dance on her roof.
