number 84

lead filled body
face under pillow
too many dreams this time
interventions in my sleep
giant lizards trying to eat a swan,
i wanted to see it's mouth open wide
wide wide
wanted to see the swan die inside
if the scaled skin monster

i awoke and thought of you
hyper aware and 'now what do i do'
there's a tune, gotta face it
but god i wonder what you dream
i wonder what monsters appear in your sleep
is your subconscious crying out or crying in
do your bones ache under the pressure of you
under the massive and heavy soul it carries

do your bones ache under the pressure of me?
a heaviness i create, a complication you don't need
there was a mountain that you climbed a long time ago
filled with snow and winter chill and pride
you thought "nothing compares to this mountain
with her stunning landscape and glorious sunrise
the birds that thrive and the trees that grow around me
and protect my frail and fragile human body
from the elements that come with her territory"

and i am a sea
a raging sea that tries and tries to quiet itself
to hide itself
to bury itself
to turn herself into the earth, the unassuming earth
the soil of let go
the trees of wisdom

and i just a sea girl
with wobbly legs and tangled hair
a sea salt kiss and arms waiting to crash over you
and tie you to the sea bed
like a siren that only knew how to love and nothing else
