Moonlight Sonata for a Battered Bird

groans in the night
the wailing in the dark
kept me up all night

my hair was dishevelled
as i tore off your clothes
skulls to the floor

you were weeping as i
held your body close
frail as a mineral
and you broke

my eyes were wide as i followed
my fingers along the pathways
in your skin

you wept because of him

i swept the hair from your face
your eyes were clear
and i did not kiss you

'no, not here'

so we left
we took to the streets, your tears
still falling
i grasped your hand
afraid you might fall
fall back
and never return at all
so i held you tight
and we ran into the night
to find you were still alone
and i kissed you for a time
and held you, as if you were mine

as if you were mine

and i traced my fingers
inside the pathways of your skin
and you opened the door to let me in

there was only darkness,
not light to be seen
my eyes adjusted slowly

i made my way through the black
and found you crumpled on the floor
you muffled a word

i placed my hands across your eyes,
and you caressed my fingertips,
ever so gently

i had never seen such a broken bird

'i will love you here and now'
i said strong, my voice unwavering
as a tear rolled down my cheek

and even in the dark
and even with your body torn and bloodied
and your mind come back from a storm
i will hold you
and i will dream of a moonlight sonata.

miranda,

i honestly thought that was really beautiful, if beautiful fully describes it. something about it really got to me, and i actually felt that weird hair standing effect. thank you. i needed inspiration.
