Change Us

You are plaintive,
and I, a sparrow.
Be gone, your shackles
and your indolence

I am on the wind tonight,
far beyond the tomorrow you have written
stretching beams of sunlight through the breaking of clouds
beams of sunlight through the breaking of my soul

And while you kill my in my sleep,
and lie to get me into your arms
Be more steadfast in your anguish for her
For we are and were
all just burning manuscripts
in the forgotten temple of your loving

And flutter through the lives of all of us
Change us.
