just a heathen’s dream
blinded as it may seem
and girlie jester’s house is on fire
some in prose
some in rhyme
but always with music
and always in time
the counselor will tell you
you are a toddy of mass proportions
a juice that is rimmed with salt of a celery
when you go away
i hear the cats wail through the dust
and i mew along and hope
that you'll hear my gripe
and what a behemoth that cat will be
the sound of a harp
slips through your ears
crawls through your ears
scratches inside your ears
such a petty pretty little annoyance it is
but you appreciate it
there's some pulp on the side of the glass
can you smell them cheer on your face
what a softly singing alarm
calling me to your embrace
i'll pay the forty dollars to get you here
but please don't take advantage of my fears
i can here your heart beat in the bar
i can hear the bar from inside your heart
so gentle calm winds are blowing away
lets see your earthy, stellar gaze
find your hopes and put them on wings
and fly to the house i live in
fly to the hotel we'll dance in
fly to the shot from a gun in your ear
its a strange sound, my dear
but you appreciate it
and i appreciate your ear lobes
