a flutter,
a fire in my chest
I mumble and hummmmm
a sweet surrender
serendipitous, no? Like
the moving notes on a piano
fluttering by
like a butterfly
Give me a moment
I need to drown a little
I can't have any more air,
I need the water seeping in my lungs
I reach my hands from out of the
waves and grasp at the sky
my eyes are wide open,
my vision is blurred and my corneas burn
The corners of my mouth are turned up
as I suck in the salt.
And my heart is a flutter,
I feel the glorious release.
Just a small stutter, stuttering by
As I look in your eyes.
