the need to adorn
my mystery bruises
my mystery scratches
on my knees
brighten up your feet
lift your heart to the sky,
i want to squelch in the desire of you
leap into my desire for you
like a bed with layers of linen
i want to bask in your company
i want to find a little mystery
left somewhere on my body
you see, my body no longer
brings me surprises
it is long and untouched
pure and angular
i know the way the light hits it
i don't know how you'll fit
how you'll crash against my stomach
with a gurgling roar
it'll take you years
or maybe even more
to coax the little lion cub in my belly
into hushing and shushing
and napping and loving
and i am intuitively good
good at knowing your aim
your goals and only parts of your soul
and where i am to begin
i know that has worked in the past
so i'll whisper your name
i'll trail my fingers across the part of you that lingers
and only ask that you listen
to the thump of your heart
when we're in the dark
you'll have a hard time believing
that this little nymphet with too much to bet
holds you rapt by the call of her dreaming
feeling the need to adorn
to swallow her scorn
at the mystery bruises on her ankles
she'll trip and she'll fall and
tomorrow she'll crawl to the mirror
and wonder
where you took them
