hey, he says,
it's okay to disconnect
to enchant only the world within you
i'd like to believe the words
he weaves in front of my nose
but I'm still not sure
it can happen
and lately the only type of night
that I seem to like
is the one with you in it
and i'm standing here on the
corner of this blizzard
my hand covering my ear
because it's so frozen it'll fall off
i almost shed my winter skin
filled with hope and sugar
filled with laughing daffodils
hope i wish to give you the image i crave to create
i'm just stuck between the roots
and the flesh
the earth
and regret
the sea and remorse for
the lover's night gone
with no lover to fill it with
i'll lounge in the false light of the sky
my eyes are heavy
my legs ache as if i have run to you
my hands so cold, my feet so cold
my cheeks are on FIRE
i've never been so hungry and
never so lonely
and never so tired
and never so deeply weary but
the thought of my warm bed and a cup of
congratulations tea
"you did it, you're in"
brings a smile to my ears
i cannot wait to celebrate
with you by my side and
some rich earthly wine
we'll dance and jump and
call back the sun
and the winter will go away
and just as i pull out of
the rhythm i have in my brain
it brings me back again
the rhythm brings me back again
