Window

There was a time
when all I desired was
hands to hold in the night time
a shoulder blade to kiss in the morning
toes to entwine on sunday
a window to look through
with flowers and chipped white paint
a sill of permanence
a sill of love

a time when i'd compare
the music of my life
to the music of my soul
when joanna newsom was
a spoonful of honey in the summertime
and iron and wine a spoonful of you before
dreaming

and I always knew I would have these
things, these things I so desired
I knew the world the moment I met you
I knew all the things I did not know

I am full of light for you
I am heavy and encased

you are like a spoonful of honey
in the afternoon glowing sun
while looking through a dirty window of a home
and lo, there are sunflowers
and birds.

We are called to the same things,
spoken silently, I worry you do not understand
One day I will tell you my secret
perhaps one day I will let you in
On the true thing I thought I was
when looking through a window.
